Applicability of DDBD approach on low-rise RC buildings situated in Indian seismic regions

Design of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings with a direct-displacement-based design (DDBD) method has been used extensively for the last few decades around world. As compared to force-based (FBD) method, DDBD provides advantages in cost-reduction, construction timing, and better structural performance. This paper investigates methodology G + 3 storied RC buildings, having different configurations by varying bays longitudinal transverse directions, but same total plan area. The selected case-study are analysed via non-linear time history analysis considering seismicity zone-V Indian regions. A suite spectrum compatible ground motions is used. seismic behaviour terms base-shear ratio, ductility demand, displacement profiles drift ratios. results illustrate that procedure proves be useful designing situated regions India competent enough withstand lateral forces due excitations.
